North Korea: Assistance Needed
- "Please, take an interest in North Korea and have a heart for the people of North Korea...in their poverty and travail. The (food) situation there is terrible. Though it's difficult for all age-groups, it is especially the children who suffer." says Mr X (name changed due to security reasons).
Since June 2008, Dorcas and ORA have supported a food distribution project through which some 1,700 orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) receive food daily, six days a week. That equals some 40,800 meals a month! Mr X, cited above, is the project leader in the country.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) has an estimated population of 23 million inhabitants. It is the most isolated country in the world and has a dictatoral regime. Most of the population suffers from chronic malnutrition, due to a combination of "technical" crop failures, weather conditions and international and economic isolation. Chronic malnutrition makes the population especially susceptible to infectious and non-infctious diseases and epidemics.Lately, the country has drawn negative international attention to itself.
Let us not forget the people and inhabitants of this country, but act in love to support them with something as vital as food.
What can you do?
-> Pray for the people of North Korea.
-> Give a gift of love to feed children in North Korea! Providing a child with food for a month (one meal a day) for € 2,5!
