Russia: Shelter for Teenage Mothers Opened

Wednesday September 16, the doors of a much needed shelter for teenage mothers and their children were opened in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Representatives of the local administration, Social Affairs, churches of different denominations as well as staff members of Dorcas' local partner organisation, Mission Possible, attended the celebration.

The centre gives (temporary) shelter to up to 16 teenage mothers with children.
The purchase of the shelter was financed through a Dutch TV-documentary (EO-Metterdaad) about street children in Yekaterinburg. It was a long-expected opening.

Dorcas has, since 1996, supported the activities of Mission Possible in Moscow, St Petersburg and Yaroslavl. The supported activities are, among others, a street patrol (for children at risk), a daycare and shelter and a rehabilitation farm.
