Tanzania: New Food Relief Project

This week, a new food relief project, so-called Anti Hunger Corps project will begin in the district of Handeni in Tanzania where food security has continued to deteriorate.

Together with a local partner organisation, Dorcas Aid will support 875 households with food for a period of three months, thereby preventing them from living in hunger while at the same time enabling them to perform farm activities at full swing.

The prices of major staple foods remain above the five year averages, which have constrained food access for most market dependent households.

Dorcas Aid International Tanzania supports one development project in which the poorest of the poor are provided with construction of low cost houses,  agriculture support and training on entrepreneurship, family planning as well as health and sanitation.

Recently, Dorcas Aid also run a food aid relief project which commenced in November 2009 and ended in  February 2010.
