Achievements Until Now:
3570 beneficiaries have received access to clean water. 1740 beneficiaries have access to improved sanitation. 684 beneficiaries have had their homes renovated. 588 beneficiaries had their homes reconstructed. More than 4800 people were reached with health awareness.
Target Groups:
140 poor families who suffer from hard living conditions due to inadequate shelter and who lack possibility to improve the conditions due to old age or illness.
Problem Program Addresses:
The lack or inadequacy of proper shelter that can provide dignified, comfortable and healthy living conditions. Another problem is the inaccessibility to clean water and indoor latrines.
Purpose:
Proper shelter is provided to poor families who suffer from inadequate living conditions. Better living and housing conditions for poor families in upper Egypt.
Main Activities:
Assess living and housing conditions of the poorest families.Establish community development committees on the village level who are active in beneficiaries' selection and program implementation. Repair and renovate houses including plastering, painting and installing new wooden roofs. Reconstruct houses built with mud blocks and tree branches. Install clean water connections inside homes.Construct indoor latrines. Train target group on environmental care and basic health and hygiene principles including HIV/AIDS.
