Achievements Until Now:
Hundreds of poor families are currently being supported. They receive food, clothes, furniture, money to cover some of their special needs, and psycho-social support. Many children from these families attend one week summer camps.
Target Group:
Poor families from Cimislia and Telenesti regions. Dorcas cooperates with 40 churches in the country. Every church has a group of volunteers who are visiting and reaching out to these poor families. The selection of the families is strict and has been compiled by the local authorities.
Problem Program Addresses:
Moldova is the poorest country in Europe. Large families, single parent families, families with handicapped members and families with illnesses often face major problems. Many people living in such families deal with depression and lack hope. With this programme we support these families with some basic needs and psycho-social support.
Purpose:
To improve the physical, emotional and spiritual situation of poor families.
Main Activities:
During the winter period, the families receive food parcels and other materials such as clothes, blankets, special needs like chairs, beds, wheel chairs, etc. monthly. In the summer period, most of the children have the possibility to go to a summer camp. Dorcas is also providing wood (for heating), and assisting with medical costs.
