Achievements Until Now:
Sponsored grannies have been supported with monthly food parcels (containing rice, beans, oil, soap, sugar and salt), house rehabilitation and basic health care. The grannies are also visited at their homes by social workers. They received training on setting small income generating activities, as well as spiritual support.
Target Group:
Elderly people who are old, helpless and poor are supported by the project. The project set selection criteria.
Problem Program Addresses:
Address the inability of the target group to provide in basic needs such as shelter, clothing, health care and food. Many sponsored grannies lost their spouse and children during war or due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. These grannies are faced with isolation and abandonment.
Purpose:
The purpose of the program in Inhaminga community is to improve the socio-economic condition of grannies.
Main Activities:
They are provided with basic needs: food, clothing and medical care. The grannies are economically empowered through training in setting up small income generating activities. They receive counseling and spiritual support, as well as encouragement to interact and socialize with one another.
