Achievements Until Now
:
Approximately 15,000 beneficiaries received material aid every year, such as clothes, shoes, household materials, washing detergent, household equipment, etc. Dorcas has annually helped more than 20 schools and kindergartens by giving school furniture to schools, medical equipment to medical centres and hospitals, while numerous social and charity organisations, church ministries and rehabilitation centres have been helped with food, equipment, furniture, detergents and other essential goods. During and after the 2006 floods in Romania, goods from Dorcas reached many of the affected locations and approximately 800 families were helped. On average, 220 - 250 tons of goods have been distributed annually. In the same time partner reports show higher appreciation of quality of material support by beneficiaries, 10 % of beneficiaries have sustainable income and can support their own livelihood, 30% of Social Care partners (individually or in networks) have made a clear contribution to increased government support for marginalized groups (e.g. in legislation, policy, financial transfers).

Target Group:
Annually, about 15,000 beneficiaries are served through this project. These are the poor, marginalized and are helped trough Dorcas' partners: schoolchildren from large families, Roma children from very poor backgrounds; and generally people who live under the poverty limit in difficult situations.

Problem Program Addresses:
Poverty. The beneficiaries are the poorest of the poor and lack essential basic needs. The government has not been able to create proper social systems to address these issues. The project also aims at helping, empowering and equipping medical, social, educational institutions and centres as well as churches and Christian organisations to be able to serve and help the poorest families in their area. Support is also provided  to  Christian centres for youth and for addicts and to run soup kitchens.

Purpose:
To improve the living conditions of the needy people and improve the quality of services provided to them by the local medical, social, educational centres. Support local Christian churches and organisations in serving the needy of their area.

Main Activities:
Provide and distribute aid to 11 counties through the partners and churches.During Christmas time, we have distributed 2,700 food parcels, back-packs for children, Christmas parcels for families and elderly.Assessing needs of beneficiaries and incorporating these in the plans.Monitoring goods distribution and development of beneficiaries (in cases where this happens).
