Achievements Until Now:
A Job & Business Centre (JBC) has been established on the training compound and staff has been recruited and trained to assist unemployed people in finding a job. More than 2500 people have followed vocational schooling at the Skill's Centre. More than 300 people have found a job though direct mediation of the JBC and many more found a job on their own. More than 40 new businesses have been started.
Target Group:
Unemployed people living in the East Rand and beyond.
Problem Program Addresses:
High unemployment rates in the East Rand; lack of appropriate skills and working experience to enter into the labour market; lack of motivation and job seeking skills; lack of capital to start up own businesses.
Purpose:
Alleviation of poverty and increase in living standards through the creation of employment.
Main Activities:
Training in practical skills. Training in the set-up of small businesses. Development of a job centre to assist the unemployed in finding jobs. Assistance with set up capital to start small businesses. Assistance in finding apprenticeships for skilled young people. |
