Achievements Until Now:
Child and granny headed households are supported. Children receive for instance food, education and additional activities such as homework groups and life skills training. People living with HIV/AIDS, youth and staff are trained on HIV/AIDS, social services are provided to the needy, home based care is provided to HIV infected people and food parcels are distributed.
Target Group:
Chronically and terminally ill patients, orphans and vulnerable children, child and granny led households and families who have become informal ‘foster care' facilities.
Problem Program Addresses:
South Africa faces one of the worlds' highest HIV/AIDS prevalence, meaning that there are many sick people, many orphans and many people at risk of infection. The programme therefore seeks to provide care and support to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Purpose:
Increase quality of life for those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and to improve prevention of infectious diseases.
Main Activities:
Assist people who are ill with AIDS or other chronic diseases in their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs through home visits and counseling; assist orphans and vulnerable children and their primary care providers to meet their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs, education and counseling regarding HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health, facilitate access to skills training and micro-financing, beneficiaries are educated on their rights.
