2006
Achievements Until Now:
The roof of the rehabilitation centre Nr.1 in Tula has been repaired in addition to other renovation work carried out. New furniture (140 chairs, 30 beds and 30 mattresses, 8 chairs) have been purchased in addition to wardrobes and tables. Projects to raise the awareness on the harms of smoking, drugs, sex etc. have been carried out. 24 children have had rest at the summer camp. The library has been filled with new books. Volunteers have visited the children.
Target Group:
10-18 year old children from families in which they are physically and/or psychologically abused and children who refuse to continue living with their families or in a boarding school, who have no guardianship, homeless, no financial means; who need social and psychological rehabilitation and adaptation, urgent social correctional and medical psychological support.
Problem Program Addresses:
There are 57 children aged 8-18 at the rehabilitation centre. Their parents have lost custody. The rehabilitation centre has become home for these children even though the centre does not provide care as parents do. Due to the poor living conditions at the centre, the children do not have the comfort they need. Additionally, the educational level is suboptimal: qualified teachers can not be hired nor can necessary study materials be purchased due to lack of financing.
Purpose:
Improve the living conditions, psychological and emotional states of the children at the rehabilitation centre.
Main Activities:
The rehabilitation center building repaired, workshops constructed and equipped with tools. Children are taught (hairdressers and barbers, watchmakers, shoemakers, joiners).Organize summer camp Visit children at the rehabilitation centre on a regular basis.
