Achievements Until Now:
The vocational school offers carpentry, masonry, nursery school teaching, welding, tailoring and cookery to currently 200 students. Part of the students follow fulltime vocational training, while others follow a combination of secondary school with vocations training. The school is certified by the Tanzanian government and graduates receive an official diploma that offers them good opportunities for employment or self-employment More than 500 poor households have received training and microcredits to start or expand their income generating activities and small businesses. The main areas of business activities were vegetable production, food processing and small livestock rearing.
Target Group:
The target group for the vocational training centre is formed by young people who wish to develop skills increasing their opportunities in both self- and gainful employment. The target group for the small business and IGAs development program is formed by vulnerable households in Arusha.
Problem Program Addresses:
The vocational training program is addressing the problem of unemployment resulting from lack of skills among the youth. The community development program is planning to continue empowering the community in the area of income and employment where facilitation of trainings will be in the following areas: entrepreneurship and IGA, HIV/AIDS, and provision of soft revolving loans.
Main activities:
The training centre provides training in the following areas: carpentry, masonry, nursery school teaching, welding, tailoring and cookery. Within the community development program the main activities are: training on entrepreneurship skills, providing micro credits, conducting HIV/AIDS awareness en gender training. |
