Achievements Until Now:
People are reached with health services, education on topics relating to public health, increased HIV prevention and care knowledge, children access better nutrition and educational support. HIV infected people showed improved health status, new home based care workers were trained and equipped and children were vaccinated.
Target Group:
Community members, people living with HIV/AIDS and pregnant women.
Problem Program Addresses:
Parts of Tanzania lack accessible and quality health care. The projects focus on improvement of the quality of existing health care facilities, provision of additional health care services such as home based care and antenatal care. In addition, through educating people on various diseases and giving options for prevention (e.g. bed nets) sickness is prevented.
Purpose:
To improve the prevention of infectious diseases and increase the quality of health care. There is specific attention for issues concerning expectant women and mothers with young children.
Main Activities:
Construction of health care facilities, including construction of one maternity waiting home and one new female ward. Home based care for people living with HIV/AIDS, awareness creation on HIV/AIDS, facilitating testing and counseling on HIV, food and medication provision for patients, workshops on sexual and reproductive health, communicable diseases such as malaria, and issues related to pregnancy. In addition, pregnant women access reproductive health services and malnourished children are supported with food supplements. |
