Achievements Until Now:
Twenty low cost housing units and improved latrines have been constructed and occupied. The village agricultural paraprofessionals got training on how to improve traditional agriculture and farmers trained on conservation agriculture, formation of income generating groups as well as entrepreneurship. In addition, beneficiaries were trained on HIV/AIDS prevention education by community health workers.
Target Group:
The poor and vulnerable households mainly composing of orphans, widows/widowers, elderly and households without incomes.
Problem Program Addresses:
Poor housing conditions and inability of the poorest families to participate in community development activities.
Purpose:
Create access to good housing for the poor and vulnerable households.
Main Activities:
Train selected beneficiaries on how to make inter-lock blocks, mobilization of the construction materials, construction of 25 low cost houses, Organize training on mixed cultivation, chicken and goat keeping, establish tree nurseries with variety of tree species in two villages for the practice of agro-forestry, conduct refresher course for 20 community health workers (CHW) on health and sanitation from 6 villages, conduct households cleanliness competitions in two villages for beneficiaries of 40 houses constructed in year 1 and 2 and award the best 3 winners, construct 20 pit latrines, identify and train community health workers (CHWs), volunteers in each village on HIV/AIDS and TB prevention, conduct training in 2 primary schools and secondary schools on HIV/AIDS and TB prevention, control and care.
