Achievements Until Now:
12 health institutions in rural areas were renovated, equipped and improved. Approximately 20,000 people in rural areas have access to basic medical care, treatment and supervision.
Target Group:
Population of Transcarpathian villages. Local medical care is essential especially for the poor, elderly and handicapped who do not have the possibility to travel long distances to the nearest hospitals or medical centres.
Problem Program Addresses:
Rural medical centres and clinics lack the most essential equipment and have no access to clean water. The buildings are in bad conditions, without proper sanitation facilities and in case these are closed down, the most vulnerable population lose their only access to medical care, supervision and first aid.
Purpose:
Increased access to quality health care by improving medical facilities, their sanitary conditions and quality of medical services.
Main Activities:
Renovating clinics, hospitals and medico-social institutions with help of local volunteers. Provision of basic sanitary facilities and safe clean water. Equipping the centres with basic furniture and medical supplies. Health, hygiene and HIV/AIDS education.
