Achievements Until Now:
250 children - handicapped or orphans - have received material, social and spiritual support.
Target Group:
Poor children from Mukachevo with different disabilities receive help and care on a regular base. This includes material support, feeding, physical and mental rehabilitation, day care and in some cases, also schooling. Furthermore, (social) orphans from orphanages or transition homes receive support and care including material aid, medical care, psycho-social support, life skill trainings, and education.
Problem Program Addresses:
Vulnerable children (handicapped and orphans) are in a disadvantageous situation in Ukraine, including Transcarpathia. Their basic needs are not met by the government. Many children lack self-esteem and perspectives for the future.
Purpose:
Improve living conditions of vulnerable children. Ensure proper schooling and rehabilitation for children with special needs. Increase children's self-esteem. Successful integration of orphans and handicapped into society. Increase the awareness of the society and of the government about the special needs of these groups of children.
Main Activities:
Provision of essential material aid. Physical and mental rehabilitation for handicapped children. Provision of medical care. Organizing social activities. Provision of skill development/vocational training. Schooling and day care for handicapped that have no access or rights to public education. Integration activities for orphans that are out of government institutions. Assist the older children in becoming self-supportive.
